A small group of local residents is in the early stages of exploring the relocation of a monument honoring fallen soldiers that is on the southeast corner of 87th Street and Western Avenue in the Dan Ryan Woods.
The monument, which consists of a stack of stones about 4 feet tall along with an inscription reading “Chicago Council of Gold Star Mothers” (GSM), was found to be in disrepair about a year ago, organizers said.
They cleaned the monument, as well as the grassy area around it, but they are now exploring whether it can be moved it to another part of Beverly.
