The effort to save the Eugene S. Pike House, a historical structure in North Beverly, recently received a major boost—but that doesn’t assure the home, 1826 W. 91st St., will receive the upgrades it desperately needs or will escape demolition.
Local residents have teamed up with local civic associations in the last several months to brainstorm ways to renovate the 19th-century home, which is owned by the Forest Preserves of Cook County (FPCC) and has fallen into disrepair.
On April 20, Landmarks Illinois, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Illinois’ architectural and historic resources, named the Pike House to its list of this year’s Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois.
