All the pieces are coming together as community residents make plans to unveil in coming weeks a refurbished memorial that honors fallen soldiers from World War I.
For over two years, residents have worked to repair a Chicago Council of Gold Star Mothers (CCGSM) Memorial that was crumbling in the Dan Ryan Woods.
With the assistance of Cook County officials, the memorial, after receiving a drastic makeover that includes the installation of a new tablet honoring fallen soldiers, will be rededicated at a new location, in front the Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center on the northeast corner of 87th Street and Western Avenue, in November.
